1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?
The infringement budget was the most surprising to me. I didn’t realize that in order for patent rights to be effective, an infringement budget must be in place so that infringers “fear legal damages” (Kuratko, 276).
2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
I found the fair use doctrine to be a little confusing. The way in which Kuratko explained the concept confused me. A more detailed explanation would help me understand more.
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?
a. Which is the most difficult way to invalidate a trademark: cancellation proceedings, cleaning-out procedure, abandonment, or generic meaning?
I would like to know Kuratko’s opinion on which process is the most difficult because I am curious
b. Do the advantages of a sole proprietorship outweigh the disadvantages?
I would like to know Kuratko’s opinion because I value his opinion and it could be beneficial for aspiring entrepreneurs.
4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?
I do not believe the author was wrong about anything in this chapter.
